Is a portable swamp cooler actually useful inside a restaurant?

Our AC is down and I’m looking for a temporary way to make the dining room more comfortable. Does a swamp cooler help?

It helped a little on dry days, but when the air got humid it mostly made the room feel heavier. At my place I ended up using fan-only mode more than the cooling mode. It can help for a short time, but I wouldn’t treat it like a real AC fix.
